Mr. J. H. McCue:
Dear Sir,
Having just recd a letter from Mr. J. Hotchkiss stating that you want a teacher at Lovingston, I therefore drop you a few lines to ascertain what the prospects may be of obtaining the situation.
I have recently graduated at Emory & Henry College, and can furnish ample references of good moral character &C, not only from the faculty of E. & H. Col. but also from my former teacher. [?] Rev. W. L. Richardson of Waynesboro, Rev. R. [?] Dabney D. D. of Union Seminary, Rev. J. N. Craig, Dr. Walker and others. You will //
