William E. Tolbert (1864-1865)

William Tolbert worked for the Chief Engineer’s Office of U. S. Military Railroads during the end of the war. In this small collection of wartime letters (1864-1865), William writes to his sister Emma, discussing general working conditions and some of the military units he has been working near while stationed in Tennessee and Mississippi.
