Sue Carter (1861)
Before the war, Sue Carter lived with her family in Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia. During the war, she remained in Staunton and maintained a correspondence with family members in both the North and the South as well as with young soldiers serving in the Confederate army. After the war, Carter left Staunton and married Tom Copenhaver of Marietta, Virginia.
